Are you in the process of applying for a new job and have been called in for an interview? Here are interview tips to help you stay calm and impress the interviewer.

Do you know how to get there?

If the interview is in person, it's a good idea to check in advance how you'll get there. The worst first impression is being late for the interview! Check if there's a bus or parking, and how long it takes to get there.

Can you tell us a little about the company?

Go to their website and check out news, projects they are working on, etc. You are often asked if you know the company and this is a low-threshold way to show that you have done your homework.

Do you know anyone at this company who would give you a good review?

Check LinkedIn or the company website, for example, to find out.

«"What should I wear?"»

You don't want to come overdressed or in a suit if the dress code is jeans and t-shirts. If you don't know what office style is, dress as neutrally as possible. That way, it won't take away your focus.

Be polite!

Thank you for a pleasant chat and your time when the interview is over.

Don't be afraid to seem eager.

If you want this job – tell them! It could be the tipping point in your favour.

Ask about what the process will be next.

It's perfectly okay to ask about this, as well as when they expect to be hired. Also ask if they need anything else from you (diplomas, certificates, references, etc.).

Remember: It's good training anyway.

Remember that even if you don't get the job, it's good meeting practice for the job you will later land.
