Firewater Engineer

Main tasks:

System Ownership:

  • Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for all commissioning matters related to the Firewater system.
  • Maintain full technical and execution ownership of the system from MC handover to RFOC/RFCC.
  • Ensure all eng. construction, and COM interfaces impacting the Firewater system are proactively identified and managed.

Planning & Coordination:

  • Develop and maintain the Firewater COM plan, including test procedures, resource needs, tool/equipment requirements, and schedule.
  • Coordinate closely with Mechanical Completion, Construction, Engineering, Operations, and HSE to ensure readiness for commissioning.
  • Input to the commissioning network in the schedule (PIMS) and highlight constraints or critical path activities.

Documentation & Procedures:

  • Prepare and approve commissioning test procedures, check sheets, and punch items related to the Firewater system.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with project specifications, governing regulations (e.g., NORSOK as applicable), and Company internal safety and performance standards.

Execution & Verification:

  • Lead execution of functional tests, flushing, hydrotesting (as applicable), pump testing, valve functional checks, firewater ring main verification, deluge tests, jockey/booster pump verification, and integration with firefighting systems (FOAM, monitors, FG detection interfaces).
  • Ensure system performance meets design requirements for flow, pressure, redundancy, and reliability.
  • Manage and Follow-up system-level punch items (A/B) with focus on safe system start-up.
  • Interface & Stakeholder Management:
  • Follow up open actions with Engineering (clarifications, redlines, design queries).
  • Cooperate closely with Construction to prioritize work fronts enabling commissioning progress.
  • Align with Operations on system handover requirements and operational readiness.

HSE & Compliance:

  • Ensure all commissioning activities follow project HSE rules, barriers, and safe work practices.
  • Verify compliance with applicable fire protection design standards and authority requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments, SJA, PTW prep. and operational risk reviews as required.

Reporting & Progress Tracking:

  • Report progress, risks, and deviations to the Commissioning Manager.
  • Update PIMS/CCMS with completed tasks, check sheets, test results, and status changes.
  • Provide accurate forecasting of system readiness and commissioning milestones.

Handover:

  • Prepare and secure approval of RFOC/RFCC packages for the Firewater system.
  • Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and delivered in accordance with handover requirements.
  • Support Operations during first energization, start-up, and performance validation.
  • Workflow Configuration of relevant PIMS PES programs.
  • Ensure data input, position type and roles implementation to PIMS PES modules.
  • Act as project internal support function for PIMS PES programs.
  • Assist in PIMP PES training internal in project, across delivery lines and companies.
  • Monitor and verify that the PIMS CMS holds the necessary interfaces wrt. Contractor systems at sites.
  • Participate in initial testing with end-user, as well as ensure hands on configuration.
  • On a general basis, ensure stakeholder management towards Completion, MC, Engineering, Construction and Pre-Ops in the usage and understanding of the PIMS PES.
  • Work according to the Fixed Facility Alliance principles.
  • Maintain a high standard of ethics and HSE.
