SAS Engineer

• Title: SAS Engineer/Senior SAS Engineer
• Locations: Stavanger, Stord, Trondheim, Oslo
• Duration: 1-3 year contracts

Introduction

We are experiencing a high demand for SAS Engineers from our clients to work on greenfield and brownfield projects in Stavanger, Stord, Trondheim, and Oslo. 

Here you will play a crucial role in the design, maintenance and/or commissioning of safety and automation systems within various project stages, including FEED and EPCI. 

Below is an example of the kind of tasks and responsibilities you will have. (Tasks may vary between positions.)

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in SAS engineering across FEED and EPCI projects, focusing on the design and integration of safety and automation systems.
• Develop and maintain system design documentation, including system philosophies, specifications, and alarm specifications.
• Specify, dimension, and integrate process control and monitoring systems, fire & gas detection systems, protection/shutdown systems (ESD and PSD), and field devices.
• Provide support during the procurement process for discipline or multidiscipline packages, ensuring specifications and standards are met.
• Follow up on vendor documentation and verification of software and hardware deliverables, participating in test activities such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
• Perform detailed analysis and calculations in compliance with IEC 61508/61511 standards.
• Participate in safety reviews, ensuring that all systems are compliant with industry standards and client requirements.
• Ensure effective communication and interface management between various disciplines, suppliers, and the client.
• Review and verify SAS documentation, ensuring the accuracy and quality of all produced deliverables, such as SCDs, C&E diagrams, ESD/PSD Block logic, and HMI documents.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution of tasks within the discipline and project scope.

Ideally, you have some of the below qualifications. (Required qualifications will vary depending on position.)

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ of experience as an SAS engineer, with experience in Norwegian oil and gas projects.
• Proficiency in specifying, dimensioning, and integrating safety and automation systems within complex industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, including NORSOK, IEC 61508/61511.
• Experience with engineering tools such as TIME, Visio, and SAP is highly desirable.
• Fluent English is required, fluent Norwegian is advantageous (Not all positions require fluent Norwegian). 
• Some positions may require a valid offshore certificate.
