Introduction
On behalf of a client, we are seeking a Quantity Surveyor/Quantity Controller to work on a large construction project in the oil and gas industry.
Main area of responsibility
Responsible for the development and management of all quantity/quantity verification and control in the project, and provide support for contract management, project control and change management. The Estimator/Quantity Controller will ensure the correct use of all the company's defined processes and procedures, ensuring that requirements for quantity measurement and control in the project are in line with the contract. The Estimator/Quantity Controller will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will seek advice and perspectives from colleagues and managers to ensure the best possible value for the company. The candidate will perform commercial and technical assessments and make decisions and recommendations as needed and clarify responsibilities.
Main tasks
- Review all contract documents to understand the scope of work, prepare material unit costs and construction costs/hours as required in accordance with NS3420 – Bill of Quantities (in accordance with the contract rules.)
- Review and analysis of the contractor's NS3420/ Measurement certificate, forecast and invoice.
- Verify construction and material costs, as well as contract and compensation formats to ensure the best deals.
- Maintain close contact with construction managers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Prepare reports, analyses, contracts, risk assessments and other documents.
- Control of changes in contract and compensation.
- Ensure interaction with planning and/or cost disciplines to ensure proper alignment between cost/estimate and schedule
- Quality assure that the company's project control procedures are the basis and used for all cost estimates and BOQ (bill of quantities).
- Assist with maintenance and updating of the company's experience database with "As-Built" data.
- Support and coordinate cost risk analysis as needed.
- Conduct weekly meetings with the foreman, construction manager, cost manager, and the construction engineer regarding work performed, survey data, and changes.
- Continuously follow up on quantity calculations at the item level, and deliver a monthly "Cut Off" list of quantities/changes performed.
Qualification requirements
Education -
- Bachelor's degree in engineering / Chartered Quantity Surveyor or equivalent education
- Have a good understanding of construction methods within soil, concrete, steel and timber.
Qualifications
- Have a deeper understanding of construction methods and have experience with quantity surveying/verification in construction projects.
- Be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel software
- Good knowledge of NS8405, NS8415, NS8407, NS8417, NS3420 and NS4102 (Measurement Certificate) and other NS standards
- Fluency in Norwegian, both spoken and written, is a requirement.
- Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience from production projects
- Experience from implementing both large and small construction projects
- Must be able to demonstrate strong competence in one or more software programs; Microsoft Excel and ByggOffice
- Very good references.
- Track record in contributing to value creation for the project and presenting it to management and other stakeholders in the project.
- Know the principles of time usage to be able to create and assist with "Forecast" reporting based on quantities performed.
- Must be able to sit on site (Børdalen and Årskog)

This is an assignment that will last until November 2025, and our customer wants to start work as soon as possible.
