Senior Well Intervention Engineer RLWI

Vega Consultants AS
Senior Well Intervention Engineer RLWI

We are currently looking for a Senior Well Intervention Engineer – Riserless Light Well Intervention consultant.

Main tasks

  • Lead and ensure safe and cost-effective planning of subsea well intervention projects, with special focus on RLWI jobs.
  • Ensure the jobs are delivered in accordance with internal and external requirements.
  • Follow up planned jobs in the operational phase as Well Intervention Engineer in collaboration with the D&W Operations Manager, the RLWI vessel team and vendors.
  • Produce quality RLWI intervention programs and plans consistent with company’s HSSE policy and internal/external regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and define the intervention scope with main focus on downhole delivery (tools, fluids/chemicals, pumping), and coordinate interfaces with the subsea engineer for RLWI stack/subsea lubricator, tree interface and ROV scope.
  • Lead risk assessment sessions (HAZID, HAZOP, well control) and incorporate mitigation action plans, with attention to subsea-specific risks (well access, barrier envelope, weather / station-keeping).
  • Ensure proper experience transfer within the project, and make sure that relevant experience from similar RLWI campaigns and subsea wells is known in the project.
  • Maintain RLWI project budgets and expenditure tracking, including vessel day-rate and spread costs.
  • Monitor, track and analyse performance during the project — NPT, barrier integrity, vessel efficiency, campaign sequencing.
  • Provide onshore planning assurance and execution readiness by driving reviews and decision support, managing key interfaces (operations, vessel, partners, vendors) and ensuring aligned information flow.
  • Deliver intervention/downhole technical support to RLWI campaign execution (procedures, tool strings, contingencies, pumping and chemicals), and align with the subsea engineer on subsea access and equipment interfaces (RLWI stack/subsea lubricator, tree interface, ROV scope) as required.
  • Identify and handle dispensations and non-conformances if/when necessary.
  • Actively use vendors, digitalization, Lean and flexible business models as tools to improve RLWI planning and execution.

Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering degree and/or hands-on experience with subsea well intervention, RLWI, subsea wireline and/or well control on subsea wells.
  • More than 5 years of relevant wells experience, preferably including subsea campaigns.
  • Knowledge of subsea trees, well access systems (RLWI) and vessel-based operations.
  • Technical training / competency as per guidelines for discipline and position.
  • Be able to work independently and lead work scope.
  • Strong project management skills — plan, structure and drive work towards milestones, manage interfaces and risk, and ensure timely execution.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good communicator, proactively seeking advice from others and sharing own experiences with the group.
  • Good knowledge of the English and the Norwegian language.
  • Open and transparent communication.
